Within every story is a grain of truth; a fact misunderstood by humans of earlier times. But there is one tale with more than just a grain of truth; despite how it's fluctuated and changed throughout the centuries, one thing was always constant. Creatures of the night- some as fair and beautiful as the moon and others as hairy and ugly as a bat- terrorize the townspeople and drink their blood. Enticing their victims closer, whether through dance or other means, they sink their fangs into the mortal's pink flesh to consume their blood, turning them into one of their own. However, the reality of this tale is far stranger...
Creatures of the Night
"Once upon a time, I met a vampire." Your sister murmured from her seat on the floor, her reddish brown eyes flicking up to look at you. "He was tall, enchanting... but cold to the touch, almost like a dead body." She shifted, scooting closer to the fireplace in an attempt to get warmer. "He was beautiful, with pale skin and an intense gaze that would make any girl, or guy, become infatuated with him." She stared at the flames, the flickering light casting a red glow onto her. For a moment, her eyes seemed to glow red- but it must have been the lighting. "We met during the Winter's Ball at school, you see. It was a masquerade ball, so nobody recognized anybody. I thought he was one of my classmates or something. I fell in love." She turned her gaze to you, and oddly enough her eyes were still red. "Did you know that vampires could only turn their victims into vampires on the full moon? Otherwise they die- unless it's a new moon, in which case their victim becomes enslaved to them forever." She stared at you, her gaze almost unnerving. "It's the full moon tonight, ." She crept closer, her fangs gleaming in the light. You were stuck, unable to move. "Why don't you join us?" Red eyes lit up in the background...
And then you wake up. It was just a dream... right?

A vampire coven consists of the following ranks-
The Doyen
The Doyen is the 'head honcho', the 'boss', the 'master' of the Coven. He or She makes all of the decisions, with the Regent's advisement.
The Regent
Second in command; adviser. Replaces Doyen when they die.
The Prelates (2)
Coven-leaders-in-training. Replace the Regent and Doyen when they die (the eldest becoming the Doyen, and the youngest the Regent.)
The Head Sentry
The 'General' of the coven. Orders around the Sentries. Ranked evenly with Liaison Specialists.
The Liaison Specialists (3)
Finds new slaves, ask new vampires to join, and goes out 'hunting' for the Coven.
Sentries (6)
The 'Guards' and 'Army' of the Coven.
Fledglings (6)
The newest of the bunch; usually takes a couple of years before the Doyen decides their role.

The 'Common' Vampire Bat Coven
The Desmondus Coven is made up your regular, run-of-the mill 'peasant' vampire. They tend to be made fun of by the other covens because they're considered 'weak' and 'uneducated'. However, the other covens are about to get a nasty surprise, because this coven has been training and getting ready to strike the other two down.
