WindClan Fire Evacuation

[Derpple and Ashie]

The she-cat’s heart was racing, pounding in her chest as she spotted the fires. Memories of the night she became the leader of WindClan echoed in her mind, freezing the short furred feline in place from where she sat on the moors. The fires were out in ThunderClan, but even she could tell they were fast approaching the grassy hills that WindClan dwelled within. Imagining the heat upon her face, recalling the blaze that had nearly destroyed WindClan when they had dwelled underground, Dapplestar rose from the hill she sat perched on and started running. If she moved fast enough there was hope to get the warning out and the clan to the safety of the sea, for it would not take long for the grass to be set aflame.

Feeling as she did that night, imagining she was running through tunnels desperately calling for her clanmates, trying to find anyone left in the wreckage that was the smoke filled tunnels that suffocated so easily, Dapplestar moved as swiftly as her body could carry her. She thoughtlessly tore through game trails and over rabbit warrens, not bothering to avoid them so she didn’t startle the prey and perhaps affect the dawn patrol’s hunt. She had been only a few hills away, and at her neck-breaking speed it did not take long for her to reach the camp.

The black and white spotted she-cat slipped through the camp entrance like a rushing wind, and leaped onto the Breezrock. Letting out the fiercest and most urgent cry she could, Dapplestar awoke the clan. “WindClan!” She yowled, her short fur on end as she could see the thick smoke that billowed over ThunderClan. “WindClan, get up! There is a fire fast approaching, and it will not take long before it reaches our camp! Starling-” She cut herself off, realizing that she had no deputy to rely on. “Everyone,” she amended, “Everyone come out here now! We must leave the camp and get to the sea where we’ll be safe.

“Mom what’s going on?” Grumbled Infernostrike as she poked her head from the warriors den, only to catch the anxiety and restrained panic upon her mother’s face. The russet tabby quickly turned around and started rushing through the den to wake up the rest of the sleeping warriors. Soon the tabby returned, flanked by Longears and Paintedsky. Swallowsong’s ears twitched tiredly, before the scent of smoke that drifted across the open moors reached her nose.

“I need warriors helping kits, apprentices get to the elders, everyone must help each other to make sure the whole clan gets out in time!” Ordered Dapplestar, her fur risen to its full length as she tried to wrap herself around what was coming their way. Another fire, another disaster, couldn’t they have a few moons without something going wrong? One full cycle of the seasons? What had they done to make StarClan hate them so? “Rowanhawk,” she called out, turning to find her mate. “I need you to lead the clan to the sea, make sure they keep together and no one falls behind. I have to stay here… Make sure everyone gets out. Can you do it my love?”

Pinekit tumbled out of the warriors den, fully alert and ready to help. Even though she was four moons, she thought she could help and sprinted off to the elders den, ignoring shouts of protest.

Smokefrost stood up,smelling the fire.He ran out,almost running into Pinekit.

Silverkit peeked out of the Nursery,not wanting to really want to leave.

Pinekit yelled and almost hit Smoke frost, who was coming out of the warriors den. She stopped, said "Fire! You need to help the kits and queens!" like the leader, and resumed her sprint to the elders den.

Wildpath's lungs burned and she stumbnled around in confusion, her ears swiveling around and her whiskers twitching. She wasn't sure what was going on. She wanted to let out a panic stricken yowl, but wasn't sure anyone would hear her. She stopped, even though her every instinct told her run. She was good at running, but running was much easier if you could see where you were going. Help the kits. She thought, then darted off to find someone she could help.

Copperstrike looked around, then, without hesitation, the coppery colored molly darted out, not bothering to help them. Let the weak help the weak. She thought scornfully, wrinkling her nose at the smoke scent that burned her throat and lungs.

[Phoenix Flames]

Gusty stormblaze Holly Splashkit and Rowankit woke up to yowling. They sniffed the air. There was a fire. "Rowankit come on. We all have to evacuate the camp. Get your littermates and mother and hurry! I'll get my siblings, Sparrowkit and Patchkit, and get my mother, Heatherbird.", she yowled. Rowankit was fast to respond. "Pinekit, Mistkit, Mother! We have to evacuate camp! There's a fire! Come on!", he said. Splashkit walked up to Sparrowkit, Patchkit, and Heatherbird. "There's no time to waste! There's a fire invading camp and we all need to evacuate! Now. Mother, you take Sparrowkit. I'll take Patchkit.", she yowled.

Pinekit ran into the elders den. "Fire! We have to get you out of here! Have the apprentices come yet?"

[Zero]

Surgestorm poked his head from his den, blinking groggily at the mass of cats running around in a panic. "What's-" He cut himself off when he smelled the smoke, his yellow eyes widening. "Oh StarClan!" The tom disappeared inside. He tried desperately to gather as much of his herbs as he could, but knew that he couldn't bring everything, and with one last glance at his beloved den, he darted back outside to the camp, a large bundle in his jaws. I have to try to help somehow!

Pinekit heard mews of distress and gasped. "Stripekit! Silverkit! Elders, get out of here!" PInekit raced back to the nursery and spotted the two kits staring at the flames. She pulled at their backs, trying to pull them away.

Gustflight got to his paws at once after hearing (and smelling) the announcement of the fire. He ran out as fast as his paws could carry him, and looked around wildly to make sure that no one needed help. Seeing that most of the kits had already gotten the help of other cats, he checked all the dens to make sure no one was left behind.

The two elders, Swiftbreeze and her mate Rainsplash, stared up at the thick smoke visible up in the sky, ears pinned to their skulls in terror. "It's happening again," uttered the silver tabby, her voice catching in her throat. Rainsplash looked about to the chaos around them, and gave a heavy shake of his head. "Don't be a mousebrain, you know what's going on!" She snapped, fear making her extra irritable.

With as comforting a smile he could make in the situation they were in, Rainsplash licked her brow. "Come on, let's get somewhere safe." He rose to his feet slowly, and looked for an apprentice. He spotted Infernostrike across the way, remembering how she'd helped them evacuate during the flood while she and her sister were only apprentices. The russet tabby caught his gaze, and raced across to them, her fur on end. "Littlefire," he teased, and she pulled her ears back. "It's okay to be afraid," he added, "even a blaze such as you can be burned out by a bigger flame."

Still fretting some, the russet she-cat gestured with her tail. "Come on, let's get you two to safety."

"Shouldn't you help the kits?" Argued Swiftbreeze, "We're just dead weight compared to them. They have a future, we've used ours up."

Fixing her with a fierce glare, Infernostrike was determined. "You're an elder, you're respected, you're not garbage. Now let's go, we're wasting time." Turning and starting to lead the way, the tabby gave her mother one last look, before vanishing through the camp entrance with the elders in tow.

So, he turned and darted to the den. His eyes widened at the sight of the nersery burning, so he hesitated for only a moment before entering. Unfortunately, he couldn't trust his nose to help him find the kitten, and not his eyes because of the heavy smoke, so he felt blindly with his paws. "Featherkit?" He coughed, the smoke burning his throat and lungs. The medicine cat recoiled slightly at the heat of the flames that were mere feet away from his face.

Featherkit awoke from a deep, sound sleep, hearing the faint yet familiar call of Surgestorm. Smoke filled her lungs as she took a breath, and she coughed. Blindly, she called out his name. "Surgestorm!" She meowed, in her loudest voice possible. The flames in the nursery were bright and beautiful, but deceivingly so. the kit hadn't ever seen fire in her life, but she knew by instinct that it wanted to hurt her, and that she should stay away. She could only barely seen the tom's dark form in the smoke of the nursery. She got to her paws, shakily making her way towards him, at the same time, trying to not touch the biting flames, which, of course, was quite difficult for a fluffy kit. "Surgestorm, what's happening?" She cried, her small voice raspy.

"I'll help get Stripekit.", Splashkit said. "Rowankit you can help me too.", she said. "Okay!", he retorted. Splashkit and Rowankit tugged at Stripekit's scruff trying to get her out of the nursery and out of camp, to safety.

Cinderkit had his leg stuck in between a Crack on the ground.
"Help!" He mewed. The more he moved the more his leg bone broke

The tom grabbed Featherkit by the scruff, not bothering to answer her question yet. Quickly, he pushed his way out of the nursery and back in to the less-dense but still smoke-filled clearing. The tom returned to the entrance of his den, where his bundle of herbs sat untouched, and set Featherkit down beside it. He let out one more cough. "The territory is on fire, we have to get to the sea," The medicine cat meowed, his voice raspy from the smoke. "I wanted to make sure you got out too, but we should go now." He looked around the camp, at the warriors helping the other cats, and felt somewhat assured that they'd get everyone out without his help. "Let's go." The tom turned and picked up his precious bundle, watching Featherkit with sad yellow eyes.

Cinderkit groaned in pain ready to cry.
'A warrior wouldn't cry.' He thought. He pulled more on his leg and a sickining cracking sound was heard. His leg bone completely shattered.

Featherkit looked confused still. "But why is the territory on fire?" She asked, the word "fire" tasting weird on her tongue. "Are the other clans okay?" She asked, millions of questions forming in her head, but she obeyed, falling silent and following him away from the fires that had covered the moors with their rage. I hope the moors get better when we come back and everything is okay, She thought to herself. "Why the sea? Does the fire not like the water much?" She asked. Without waiting for a response, she said, "What if the fire beats the water and we have to swim like RiverClan cats? They're probably okay, they have a lot of water. And fish, too. The fish won't get burned, because they are in the water. What about us? Will all the rabbits die? Will we get hungry and have to eat fish?" She meowed, mainly talking to herself, though. "Fish is nasty and scaly." Featherkit added.

Cinderkit finally broke free. His leg was limp at his side. He tried walking but failed. He fell face First into the ground .

Pinekit went over to Cindekit and vainly tried to rescue him. "Help! Someone help!" Pinekit cried, then doubled over coughing, still trying to free Cinderkit.

"Help! " Cinderkit cried. He couldn't move his back left leg.
"Help!!!" He mewed louder.

This can't have been a coincidence," she replied bluntly, shock crawling up her spine like a winter breeze. Except this was untrue- the air was warm and thickening. The thought of Dapplestar being the last to leave frightened her immensely. "I can't lose you either. I can lose anyone," she added quickly, "the others, Longears. Are they out?" Please, Starclan. Whatever power you have. Protect them.

Surgestorm's eyes softened a bit, and he tried to answer as many of her questions as he could. "I don't know, young one..." He meowed. "It could have been twolegs, but..." The medicine couldn't help but to feel suspicious about the origin of this fire, but he could never be sure. "The beach is clear of things the fire will want to eat, so we will be safe there. If anything, we may have to stand in the water a bit." Which is must better than being burned alive. He shivered at the thought. "We may have a bit of a struggle after this, but our clan is strong, we will make it through this. I promise." It was kind of an empty promise, he couldn't actually be sure about that, but he figured it would be enough to assure the kitten. "We need to go now, though."

"Help!" Cinderkit said. He looked at Pinekit.
"Go Pinekit! I'll be fine I can make it!" He said lying. But he didnt want anyone get ti g her because of him.

"Help! " Cinderkit cried. He couldn't move his back left leg.
"Help!!!" He mewed louder.
"NO! Nobody gets left behind on my watch!" Pinekit lifted Cinderkit with difficulty, put the kit on her back, and crawled out of the nursery.

"Put me down!" Cinderkit said. He was scared, very scared right now.

Surgestorm's eyes softened a bit, and he tried to answer as many of her questions as he could. "I don't know, young one..." He meowed. "It could have been twolegs, but..." The medicine couldn't help but to feel suspicious about the origin of this fire, but he could never be sure. "The beach is clear of things the fire will want to eat, so we will be safe there. Featherheart picked up Flickerkit and Kinkkit. "Dovekit sweetie, follow me." She purred threw a Mouth of fluff. Blackice picked up Dovekit. "I got him." He mewed. The cats raced around, each trying to find there own cats."Shinepaw!" Featherheart called. She slowed down, Blackice pushed her ahead."She'll be fine!" He hissed."What if she's still there!?" She hissed. Blackice sighed and put Dovekit on her back."I'll find her." He said. Blackice raced around."Shinepaw! Shinepaw!" He yelled. Blackice saw the two kits falling behind. He picked up Cinderkit and Pinekit."Where is your mother?" He asked.

"Put me down!" Cinderkit said. He was scared, very scared right now.
"I'm sorry, but I will set you down when we are safe!"

He looked up at the smoke-filled sky, but was snapped out of his thoughts by Featherkit. The medicine cat looked at her, admiring how innocent a kitten could be for a moment. "Hopefully," He meowed, trying to still be reassuring. It was his job to keep her from being scared in this dangerous situation, he had saved her and would look out for her until he found her family. However, he couldn't help himself from his own thoughts. A fire is never satisfied, not until it has eaten everything it can get it's paws on... A chill ran down his spine, and he carefully picked up the pace a bit.

"Fine let's go..." He said

Surgestorm walked quickly, but still slow enough that Featherkit, with her short legs, could keep up. His thoughts were elsewhere at the moment, thinking about the prophecy that StarClan had sent to the clans so many moons ago. Is it beginning? He looked up at the smoke-filled sky, but was snapped out of his thoughts by Featherkit. The medicine cat looked at her, admiring how innocent a kitten could be for a moment. "Hopefully," He meowed, trying to still be reassuring. It was his job to keep her from being scared in this dangerous situation, he had saved her and would look out for her until he found her family. However, he couldn't help himself from his own thoughts. A fire is never satisfied, not until it has eaten everything it can get it's paws on... A chill ran down his spine, and he carefully picked up the pace a bit.
Featherkit nodded at his response. She could tell he was thinking hard, so she didn't say more, not wanting to annoy him. He had already saved her once, and she knew she would have to find or do something to repay him. She walked quickly, so that Surgestorm wouldn't have to slow down for her. Once they had left the clearing, Featherkit's eyes were wide as she looked round, never having left the clearing before, as it was against the rules, the whole time wondering about the other clans. I wonder if the fire already ate them all and now it's coming for us, she thought in worry. This was a disaster, but they would rise again. It wasn't the first time windclan was destroyed and rebuild in a few days. But then again, as long as the clan members stayed alive, windclan could never be destroyed.

Dovecloud looked around for her mate "gorsefeather?! Gorsefeather!" She called, her head flicking back and fourth. The silver she cat coughed and began to stumble as she tried to make her way to the beach.

Featherheart walked foreword. Two kits dangled for her jaws, another on her back. "Help!" She called.
Blackice saw rabbitpaw."Are you okay?" He asked. He walked foreword."We have to go, can you walk?" He purred.

Gorsefeather burst out of the swathing mass of WindClan cats. He looked around for his mate, Dovecloud. His calico fur swayed in the wind. The calico tom inhaled and got a lungful of smoke. He began to cough and choke. This couldn't be the end of him? No. He still had a future ahead of him. That future was by Singeflicker's side. He couldn't let the tom he had known for so long down. He began to think of his mate and kits. He didn't actually love them. Well, not as much as he loved 'The Change'. This was all part of the plan. Bucknight had revealed his plan to them last night. He would set fire to the ThunderClan camp, spreading to WindClan. If Gorsefeather could survive this...well....he didn't want to think of the future. He had to find Dovecloud and get to the shore.

Sorrelskip had been planning this, she'd planned this with Singeflicker- it was perfect. The fire was already starting to spread, and it was just... so beautiful. She could smell the smoke, and the calico's fur wasn't blowing in the wind anymore- it wasn't exactly a windy night, but the sky was a lovely sight, the dark sky clashing with the sparkling fires on the horizon. This is a time, it's a time for the beauty of change! The flames hadn't reached the camp yet, but it was still one of the most amazing thing she'd ever seen. Her paws swept across the moor grasses quickly, looking around the camp for any sign of her partner in crime- Singeflicker. "Singe!" She called out, her eyes still sparkling in the beauty of it all, the flames dancing across her line of sight. So far away, but they were still some of the best things she'd ever seen. The idea of dancing in a circle of fire, of being the one to control it all, it was almost like a dream. This was what she'd been waiting for, the change in this clan that they needed- adrenaline was rushing through her veins, and her calico fur shined in the natural light of the blazes ahead of her- she didn't do anything to help, she just sat... and she watched as everyone evacuated, and as the flames began to linger closer onto the moors. She'd always been dreaming of this moment, when she could become part of something greater, when the molly would never be born again- it was chaos, it was madness, and it was her kind of paradise.

Gorsefeather began to cough again. He inhaled more smoke as he breathed.
In the distance he could see Dovecloud. His eyes widened ans he pushed through the smoke, toward the molly. The fire burned down upon him, threatening the burn his pelt off. He dodged the flames as he headed for her. As he neared her, the coughing started up again. He looked around for a pool of water or honey to soothe him throat. There was nothing in sight except for the flames, destroying WindClan. This was the change he wanted, but was it really worth it? Of course it was! He would finally get the change he was hoping so dearly for. He finally reached Dovecloud. The calico tom, barely visible in the smoke, leaned up against her side and began to guide her to the shore.

Monsterpaw lifted a kit up and started to run.

Monsterpaw spat her out, annoyed that she wouldn't hold still.

Falconkit stumbled around, dizzy from the smoke and the scene of his mother's death. Falconkit pushed on, trying to make it to Rabbitpaw. "Help!" She cries hoursly. Her vision was getting a bit blurrer. She walked to the cats. 'Help...' she thought.

At the beach Cinderkit lay there his breathing heavy.

Falconkit's sight was getting a bit darker, even though she held her eyes wide. "Are we safe?" she asked. She had a lot of questions, but she could only tell a few because she didn't want to annoy Blackice.

He began to pad closer to the border. The radiance had faded from the calico tom. As he reached the border. He sat down and breathed in the clear air. He looked around for a pool of water and found one. He lapped up the clear blue water and sighed. The water began to cool his sore throat.

"...It's time for change." Smiling, Sorrelskip looked towards her former mentor with a glistening gaze, just so happy that this was happening, finally. She was just in love with the flames, and looking forwards to the beautiful destruction of anything she'd ever known, laughing quietly as her mentor scolded her. "We're going to make this clan so much better, and all we have to do is change the balances of power, to make sure that our leader is strong, and capable- we'll be absolutely unstoppable." Giggling, her tail swept across the moors quietly and quickly, grinning like a madman.

Sleepingcloud looked around and heard a wail from a kit, the dappled tom flicked his ear and looked in the direction the wail and gasped. The tom quickly darted over to the kit but stopped once he saw she's was surrounded by fire, the she cat was already badly burnt. Sleepingcloud cook a deep breath and jumped through the fire, hissing in pain as the flames licked his sides and underbelly. He picked the kit up by the scruff and jumped through the fire once more, camel as to not harm the kit.

The coughing subsided. Falconkit wondered who this new warrior is. Is he from Thunderclan? Shadowclan? Riverclan? My clan? She wondered.

But quickly, she lifted herself up and slid out of the den. Absolutely petrified, the white molly glared at the spreading smoke that almost covered the stars. Gulping, she remained focus onto helping the weak. Perking her small ears, she was able to hear a yowling kit, but had no idea where it was. The cry was very weak. Goosefleck's strong and muscular legs now trembled, and her spine tingled with a not so pleasant sensation. This cannot be my end. @ fenic! She thought, shivering, but something caught her attention. It was Sorrelskip. "I can't believe. What are you talking? Wipe that smile off, and help." Goosefleck spat, easily irritated by fear and anxiety. "Hurry."

Quailkit was unconcious,but saved from the fire.
Her paw was almost burnt off and her tail was almost gone, the rest of her looked like a perfect marshmallow

Monsterpaw saw Quailkit and grabbed her from the warrior running with all her might to the clan area,"HELP!" she shoutted she set Quailkit down and splashed cool water on Quailkit's burns, trying to stop the heat.

Monsterpaw kept her eye on all the kits," Mistkit, I don't know where your mama is,but you are safe, Mountainclaw," she urgently asked," Do you know what to do with a burnt kit?" she asked pointing to Quailkit, who's paw was half burnt off and so was her tail, the other parts of her looked like a roasted marshmallow.

Rabbitpaw hissed in pain as she fell off of the back of black ice, the brown she cat picked herself up and began to limp around, hissing in pain every once in a while.

Flickerkit squealed as the smoke entered his lungs,"Mommy it hurts!" His eyes stung too but he thought that was enough to tell her. Flickerkit felt Liek he was burning under his pelt and whimpered breathing deeply. He shut his eyes tightly and tried to keep calm but it as too hard and continued to whimper. Starclan save us!

Sparrowkit stumbled out of the nursery his eyes stinging but he kept strong before directing his eyes at Surgestorm who seemed more worried about one kit than all the others who still needed saving. A pang of anger swept through him for a moment before it quickly bypassed. Surgestorm must have chosen Heatherkit as us I apprentice. That makes sense. Sparrowkit was swept back into reality and darted for the entrance to camp trying to dodge the ash flying through the grass and the soreness in his throat.

Ravenpelt cast weary glance around camp before darting for the entrance not once thinking of the elders and kits needing to be saved still. The warrior was after all evil. Pushing through the burning grass the black tom knew that he wouldn't be liked for this but Ravenpelt didn't care as he darted through the grass heading for Riverclan territory.

Sparrowkit was swept back into reality and darted for the entrance to camp trying to dodge the ash flying through the grass and the soreness in his throat.

Pushing through the burning grass the black tom knew that he wouldn't be liked for this but Ravenpelt didn't care as he darted through the grass heading for Riverclan territory.

He spat then linger tward the she cat, digging his claws into sorrelskips shoulders and pushing her backwards, twards the flames "it's every cats dream to be indulged in the thing they love, you two would be great together" he said dryly, as he barred his teeth and lunged for the she cats neck.

At least Sorrelskip didn't expect Cypressmoon to jump at her in such a straight-forward manner like that- maybe that was one redeeming quality for the old coot, but it wasn't much. As much as he was her former mentor, he was getting in the way of her plans, and they mattered much more to her than he did. Hissing lowly as he dug his claws into her shoulder, she dove down into the ground to remove the sharp pincers from her skin, diving to the side as he lunged for her. The molly was still smiling as she fought, almost as if it was fun for her. "I'd like to see you try- I'm afraid somebody much more... qualified... will be the one to do that." At that word, she leaped for her former mentor's neck, claws unsheathed as a small stream of blood dripped down her shoulder, the heat of the flames radiating as they still flickered far from Windclan's camp.

Slinking over next towards her friend, Sorrelskip's eyes gleamed in delight as she found him- this fire was their opportunity, that this was when they could turn this clan into something greater. Her tricolored fur rippled in joy as she stepped up beside the Savannah Cat, tail brushing the moor grasses as she took note of the wind around her- it was blowing a bit, but there wasn't too much of it, which was quite the good thing. The fire won't be blown out by this- at least, I don't think so. I've never exactly seen fire this wild before- it's so beautiful. This was her paradise, the place she'd always wanted to be in. Organized chaos, some cats would call it. "Yeah." She said quietly, not exactly doing much except standing next to Singeflicker, and attempting to pretend like she was worried.

Too much had been put into this plan for her to let it all go to waste, just because some old cat didn't want this place to be better again- he was just like Starclan, trying to keep them weak and easy to manipulate with their prophecies and the like- she was never like him. Picking up her right paw, she aimed a blow for his flank, attacking with full force. You will not ruin our work together, not today.

Smirking as the warrior fell back from his attack, gargling some sort of garbage speech as he tried to talk about how Windclan was always equal to the other clans- of course she knew that wasn't true. "Are you kidding? You haven't seen how they look at us during gatherings, as if we're weak- that won't happen anymore now! Singeflicker's going to give this clan the change that it really needs." Her eyes almost seemed hollow now, with the idea that she was going to make this place better, that she had the power to do this with her own four paws. She would end this distraction immediately. "I was never your daughter- you barely taught me anything, except for how to be this weak, to never realize what other cats said behind my back." She wasn't evil, she was the good one here- Sorrelskip was working to make this clan stronger. As he flung himself forwards, his claws sliced through a thin layer of her ear, letting her growl flatly as she aimed another blow towards his chest- she needed to do this, to make sure that she could shut this cat up for good.

The old dappled warrior grinned as he tried to claw the side of her face, hoping that one of his attacks would hit "and that's why, you are weak" he said before sorrelskips attack hit, leaving a deep gash in his chest. The old warrior stumbled back and collapsed onto his side, blood seeping from both wounds. Cypressmoon looked up at his former apprentice, love and hope burned in his eyes as he bled out "you...will never....be a full....warrior." He choked out, pity dripped from the words he spoke as he layed his head down, shuddering as the last bit of his life left his body, His eyes loosing the light of joy and happiness that they once held, turning dull, jaw slacked, as the now dead warrior lay limp infront of one of his killer.

Change was what she's wanted for such a long time, a clan where she'd never be bored, where there was always something for the molly to do. Her calico fur rippled in interest as she stood, the smell of smoke almost seeming quite overwhelming to her now, despite how beautiful the flames were when looking at them through a distance.

Flarerunner dashed out of camp, her sleep rudely awakened by the scent of smoke. Fire! Glancing around the clearing, the bengal spotted a kit standing by itself. She dashed over to it, scooping the small thing up. "Hold still, we've got to get out of here," She meowed to the kit through it's scruff. She quickly crossed the clearing, exiting the camp and making sure not to get too close to any embers. She followed some cats who were running through the territory, hoping to get somewhere safe.

Batwhisker headed towards the beach, coughing. There was smoke on her fur, though it was hard to see because her fur was already black. She coughed more, but continued to move in the direction of the beach. Her coughing made it harder to run, so she was going slow compared to normal.
